SUFFOLK HEARING SUPPORT SERVICE – WINS AWARD.

Tuesday 21st November 2006 Suffolk Hearing Support Service was presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service by Lord Tollemache at a Reception held at Endeavour House.

SHSS won the award after being nominated by a happy and impressed service user. This nomination gained two more sponsors resulting in a recommendation for the award.

SHSS, who are funded by Suffolk County Council, has been running for nearly 17 years and offers advice, routine maintenance for NHS hearing aids and sales of assistive equipment to clients with a hearing loss throughout Suffolk. The service is provided free of charge and assistive equipment can be purchased at competitive prices.

Service Manager Marie Waller said “Our volunteers truly have a commitment and empathy with hard of hearing people and thoroughly deserve this award which recognises their care and hard work. We are very proud and deeply honoured.”
