DAY ONE |
INTRODUCING HEARING AID MAINTENANCE |
Learn the skills required to confidently maintain a range of hearing aids in a safe and hygienic way that users will appreciate |
This practical workshop will teach people to develop their skills for maintaining a wide range of hearing aids.
Candidates will also learn how to support users to get the most from their hearing aid. |
By the end of the day you will know how to:
- Identify different types of hearing aids
- Trouble shoot common hearing aid problems
- Clean, re-tube and fit hearing aids correctly
- Replace and re-assemble aid components
- Help residents with hearing loss rehabilitation
- Understand audiology protocols
- Identify common causes of hearing loss

About the organisers:
Suffolk Hearing Support Service is part of the Suffolk Deaf Association and is an idependent countywide charity. SHSS offers almost 20 years experience of practical and emotional support to people affected by hearing loss.
We work closely with the countywide Sensory Team and NHS audiology departments in Suffolk.

BECOME AWARE OF DEAFNESS AND EQUIPMENT SOLUTIONS |
Discover what it is like having a hearing loss and learn to communicate in an appropriate way.
Learn about equipment that can help your residents. |
This practical workshop will teach people how to effectively communicate with residents who have a hearing loss. You will be taught simple communication techniques and easy to use equipment. |
By the end of the day you will know how to:
- Talk with hearing impaired residents
- Help residents communicate together
- Identify solutions for ‘loud noise’ problems
- Be aware of equipment based solutions
- Use equipment and understand benefits
- Help residents identify appropriate solutions

Course Costs

* cost includes one reference manual per establishment.
Hearing Aid Care Kit
Each delegate will need to order a hearing aid maintenance kit, to use at their establishment. The kit contains the items necessary to maintain NHS hearing aid and some consumable supplies.
These kits can be shared by Hearing Aiders based at the same establishment.
Data Protection:
The information you provide on your booking form, and any additional information you may provide, will be used for the administration of the courses. SHSS will be the database manager and will not disclose this information to other organisations or persons. All course participants will be provided with a list of co-attendees and the name of the organisation they represent.
Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations must be put in writing and sent to SHSS, 49 Fonnereau Road, Ipswich. IP1 3JN.
NO VERBAL CANCELLATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED
If you cancel 28 days before the agreed training date, SHSS will make a full refund. No refunds will be made for cancellations made less than 21 days before the training or non-attendance. SHSS reserve the right to cancel a course at any time without liability, in this event an alternative date or refund would be offered.
Booking confirmation:
An acknowledgment of your booking will be made in writing, if you have not heard with 14 days of request please contact us.
Payment:
Payment by cheque to “SHSS”, card payments can be taken in person or by telephone.
